Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Nicola.

I'm the founder of Lieverd Jewellery — a little South African jewellery brand that started from a love for colour, creativity and beautiful things with meaning.

I actually have another small business, Sprookje Studio, where I create social media content for weddings and events. Both Lieverd and Sprookje have Dutch names, which is a little piece of my own story.

I au paired in the Netherlands, and my time there left me with such a love for the Dutch language and culture that I wanted to carry that into my businesses.

But behind these businesses, I'm actually a teacher. Teaching is something I genuinely love, but I've always had this entrepreneurial side of me that wanted to create something of my own.

So Lieverd is me taking a chance on that dream.

From choosing every bead and charm, putting the pieces together, photographing them, packing orders and figuring out the business side — I'm learning as I go.

It's scary sometimes to put yourself and your ideas out there, especially when you're building something from scratch, but I'm choosing to take the chance anyway.

Lieverd is about playfulness, colour, individuality and those little pieces that simply make you happy.

I want every necklace to feel special — whether you buy it for yourself, receive it as a gift, or attach your own meaning to it.

This is only the beginning, but I'm so excited to see where this little dream takes me.
